Carelessly Taxing and Spending

the School Board wants to frivolously spend our tax dollars on unnecessary construction projects. Instead of making a few needed repairs to Bryden Elementary and Hilltop Elementary, the school board wants to demolish the schools and build one larger school to replace them. This new, larger school will be feet from residential homes and have a larger institutional feel.

The Costs Keep Rising

The construction estimates have grown from $20 million in 2014 to a whopping $38.9 million in 2017. To raise the money, the School Board will increase property taxes. Property taxes will increase $302 for every $100,000 of value. For the average family living in Beachwood, property taxes will increase $862 per year for the next 35 years. Families move to Beachwood for the affordable lifestyle, not to pay high, unnecessary taxes.

Hurting Beachwood Families

Beachwood already has two other construction bonds that we are still paying off for middle and high school construction. Issue 2 will raise school borrowing to its limit. A $38.9 million demolition tax is not an investment in our schools - it is an unnecessary tax increase on Beachwood families.
